The Executive Assistant works directly with the Executive Director to help keep Rustic Ranch organized, responsive, and moving forward. This role supports scheduling, communications, document and file management, meeting coordination, administrative follow-up, and other day-to-day organizational needs. We’re looking for someone who is highly organized, dependable, comfortable working independently, and able to handle sensitive information with discretion.

Ideal for: College interns/ someone with administrative, executive support, project coordination, or nonprofit experience who wants to contribute their professional skills behind the scenes.

Serves as Lead Peer-Support Coach

Leads the coordination of the RR Healing with Horsemanship program, which provides individualized peer support and horsemanship-based experiences for veterans and first responders.

This role serves as the primary point of coordination for participants from initial contact through ongoing program involvement and helps ensure services remain organized, consistent, trauma-informed, and within the appropriate scope of peer support. Ideally, this individual will also serve as the program’s Lead Peer-Support Coach, providing direct participant support and helping guide future peer-support coaches as the program grows.

Ideal for: A veteran, first responder, or individual with strong familiarity with military/first responder culture who has experience in peer support, coaching, mentorship, behavioral health support, or similar helping roles. Experience with horses is highly valued, although additional horsemanship training can be provided for the right candidate.

Commitment: Ongoing leadership role requiring scheduled on-site availability at the ranch in Hondo, Texas.

Important: Healing with Horsemanship is currently a non-clinical, peer-support and horsemanship program. This position does not provide psychotherapy, diagnosis, or other licensed mental health treatment.

The Volunteer Coordinator helps build and maintain the volunteer community that supports Rustic Ranch. This role oversees volunteer communication, onboarding, waivers, scheduling, workday coordination, and ongoing engagement and retention. The coordinator works closely with the Director of Community Engagement and other ranch leadership to make sure volunteers have a safe, organized, and meaningful experience.

Ideal for: A strong communicator who enjoys working with people and has experience coordinating volunteers, teams, events, community programs, or similar activities.

Commitment: Flexible administrative work with on-site availability needed for designated volunteer events and workdays (∼once a month).

The Equine Manager is responsible for helping maintain the health, readiness, and overall welfare of the Rustic Ranch herd. This role oversees routine equine care, health and condition monitoring, equine records, veterinary and farrier coordination, feeding and care standards, and horse readiness for programming. The Equine Manager also works alongside program and ranch leadership to ensure that the needs of the horses remain central to how equine-assisted services are delivered.

Ideal for: An experienced horseperson with strong hands-on knowledge of equine care, behavior, health, handling, and herd management. Experience with rescue horses, training, ranch operations, or equine-assisted programs is especially valuable.

Commitment: Requires regular on-site involvement at the ranch in Hondo, Texas (∼5 hours a week).
