Our programs are centered on what we call ranch life therapy, a hands-on approach to growth and resilience through horsemanship
Working with horses creates opportunities to practice communication, trust, adaptability, and self-awareness in real time. Combined with the structure and purpose that come with ranch life, these experiences give participants space to challenge themselves and reconnect with a sense of confidence and purpose.

Veteran & First Responder Care
Rustic Ranch offers a peer-support approach built on mutual respect and trust. Designed for veterans and first responders, our program provides a place to step outside the noise, connect with others who understand the culture, and work through challenges without judgment or expectation.
Horses offer a different kind of feedback to the process. They respond to what is happening in the moment. Through hands-on horsemanship, participants learn to work alongside the horse and build trust through action rather than words alone.
The work is practical and individualized. Horsemanship creates opportunities to strengthen self-awareness, communication, emotional regulation, confidence, and connection while navigating challenges related to relationships, anxiety, depression, and the effects of prolonged or high-stress experiences. No prior horse experience is required.
This isn't about fixing anyone. It's about creating an environment where veterans and first responders can challenge themselves in a different way, reconnecting with what matters and moving forward with purpose.
A tailored plan will be created to meet the participant's needs and goals.

Why “Rustic Ranch”
“I found myself at the end of my military career thinking, What’s next? I always knew I wanted to go into nonprofit work, but I didn’t plan for it to happen so soon.
We use a term in the military to describe someone who has been in for some time: ‘salty.’ Quite literally, it means a seasoned service member.
When we think about the term ‘rustic,’ one definition describes something as old, seasoned, or rural in nature. But today, we also see a new meaning emerging. What was once thought of as old, simple, or used has been given new life and new meaning.
That is exactly how I see our veterans. We are rustic. We are seasoned. And we, too, have a story to share.
Our life experiences, many of which are rarely understood outside of military service, are a testament to our unique backgrounds. We possess a wealth of knowledge and experience that can enrich our communities in ways few others can.
When I thought about what to name this nonprofit, I wanted to choose something that would symbolize not only our growth, but also the profound meaning we can continue to bring to the lives of others.
While the name Rustic Ranch may seem simple, it represents something much deeper: the idea that what we have experienced and where we have been are part of our story, but they do not define where we go next. There is always an opportunity to find new meaning, purpose, and a way forward.”
